Robert A. “Fred” Watkins, 64, of Monmouth, IL. passed away at 6:58 am, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at his home.
Fred was born March 22, 1957 Avon, IL the son of Warren and America Joan (Wagy) Watkins. He was raised and educated in London Mills and Abingdon.
He worked at Briggs Pottery in Abingdon for a time. Fred later started his own contracting business before working as a carpenter and supervisor for Carl Nelson Construction, Burlington, IA.
He was a member of the Keithsburg Boat Club where he served as Vice-President. Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and playing pool.
Survivors include his long-time companion, Terry Shamblin of Monmouth, IL his son, Jeremy Kennedy; 3 brothers, Warren (Christine) Watkins of McDonough, GA, Charlie Watkins of Abingdon, IL and Rodney (Sue) Watkins of Gladstone, IL; 1 sister, Gayla Bivens of Salem, VA; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 20, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation has been accorded.
