The United School Board had their regularly scheduled meeting this month and set a truth and taxation hearing for the tax levy of 4.99% on December 9th. Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt has more:

“Asking for a 4.99% more than what we got last year. We did go ahead and schedule a truth and taxation hearing for December 9th just to be safe in case between now and then, we determine that we do have to ask for 5% more. We are still don’t have exact EAV numbers. We don’t know exactly what our property values are going to be, so to determine a rate and determine what we are asking for, because of that, is sort of an estimate at this point. We have to give ourselves a little bit of a buffer, hence the hearing we scheduled in December.”

The board also had a chance to see the financial audit and Mr. Whitsitt noted United received the highest designation in the state for their financial status.
