“What a Ride!” Despite Loss, West Central Heat End Season on Upbeat Note

Share

The West Central Heat’s football season came to a close Saturday in a 50-14 loss to top-ranked Polo in an 8 Man semifinal game in Biggsville.

Despite the setback, the Heat completed its season with a 9-3 record, earning high praise from their head coach, Jason Kirby:

“Wow. What a ride,” Kirby said. “How awesome it was to spend time with those seniors, and seeing them become the most successful football team ever at West Central by getting to the semifinals.

“Such great leaders, who also worked well with our younger players to build a great football program. Those things are what will last in my mind, the relationships with those kids.”

Polo, now 12-0, will face Orangeville in the 8 Man championship game, to be played Friday at Monmouth College’s April Zorn Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Tickets for the 8 Man championship game are $5 at the gate, which will open at 5:30 p.m.
