Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 21, 2021:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Mattie Gillen. Mattie earned an all-tournament award for her fantastic performance at the ROWVA/Williamsfield-Ridgewood Thanksgiving Tournament. She averaged over 17 points a game throughout the week. Mattie poured in 28 points in the very first game of the season.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Luci Kane. Luci led the Red Storm in scoring average for the week in the ROWVA/Williamsfield-Ridgewood Thanksgiving Tournament. She scored 10.5 points a game for the four games. Luci was even better in the two Red Storm wins to end the tournament, totaling 28 points in those two contests.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Shelby Bowman. As a reward for her performance in four games at the ROWVA/Williamsfield-Ridgewood Thanksgiving Tournament last week, Shelby was placed on the All-Tournament team. She averaged an amazing 23.5 points a game. Among that point total, Shelby made 11, 3-pointers and was 32-for-41 from the free throw line.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Kiarra Kilgore. Kiarra averaged nearly a double-double in the first three games of the Silver Streak Thanksgiving Shootout. She was just under 20 points a game and close to 10 rebounds a contest in three Galesburg wins. Kiarra’s high point night of 24 came in a 52-point blowout win over Freeport.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week. This week the spotlight shines on junior girls basketball player, Brooke Pieper. Brooke was named to the ROWVA/Williamsfield-Ridgewood Thanksgiving All-Tournament team for her performance on the court. She averaged 17.5 points and 8 rebounds a game. Brooke was even better in the three A-Town wins, scoring nearly 22 points a game.
