Anticipated West Harlem Reconstruction Faces Setback

The City of Monmouth’s grant application for a Federal RAISE grant of $1.7 million to assist with the West Harlem Road reconstruction project funding was not selected for award, says Communications Director Ken Helms:

“The state applied most of those grants to things like bicycle paths, other green type of infrastructure that they did, primarily the type of infrastructure that you do see in the larger metro areas and that kind of thing. We are going to have to pursue some other different things, kind of get creative on it and find some other sources of funding for that.”

Elsewhere, replacement of the water main in the 300 block of North 5th has been completed and the final 1,000 feet of large city sewer installation servicing the commercial area north of Highway 34 and east of Highway 67, as well as, Monmouth Manor has also been completed.
