When it comes to online shopping, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Security Savings Bank Vice President Dorothy Ricketts recommends sticking to known stores while online shopping as a new ‘smash and grab’ craze is circulating, and the stolen items are being sold online:
“You have probably read or heard in the news about the ‘smash and grab’ thieving rings that are especially in big cities, but it is happening all over the country where they smash, they run in and grab a lot of stuff. They are actually the collectors for organizations, but for “bad actors” that collect this merchandise and then they sell it online. It is so easily done without being easily traced.”
Remember to be aware of the websites you visit before making online purchases.
