Extra Patrols Will Be Out and About This New Year’s Eve

Share

This New Year’s Eve, the Monmouth Police Department will have extra patrols out keeping the roadways safe through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, says Police Chief Joe Switzer:

“Illinois Department of Transportation funds a grant for police departments to provide extra patrols during the holidays. Those patrols are out there looking for seatbelt violations, distracted driving, and the main one DUI driving. There is going to be extra police officers out there and they are going to be looking for those types of things. Put your cellphones down while you are driving, wear your seatbelt, and if you are going to celebrate for the New Years have a designated driver.”
