Illinois to Receive More Rapid Tests from Federal Government

Share

The state of Illinois is ramping up health care as the need for COVID testing and booster shots is peaking. Governor JB Pritzker says the White House is going to offer up a half a billion rapid tests – and Illinois will receive it’s share of those tests. Pritzker notes the past experience of the state’s mass testing and vaccination sites will provide the path forward to test more residents and get more shots to those wanting a booster.

“We are doing hundreds of smaller sites all across the state and assisting local health departments, which had been providing a certain level of vaccinations with staffing that allows them to do even more. Whatever you want to call it, we could call them all mass vaccination sites, but from my perspective what we are doing is expanding by tens of thousands the ability for people to go get boosters and get vaccinated during this time when there is high demand.”

Pritzker provided a COVID update on Monday.
