KCAP President Urges Vocation Development as Future Economic Driver

The Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development (KCAP) is a private, 501(c)6 non-profit organization that provides economic development services to Galesburg and the Knox County region.

According to president Ken Springer, KCAP is “a professional, non-partisan, non-political organization whose goal is the promotion of job growth, new investment and a better quality of life for the communities we serve.”

Springer recently participated in the WRAM/WMOI “Freezing for Food” fundraiser to address food insecurity in Monmouth and throughout Warren County.

All proceeds from the two-day event allowed the Jamieson Community Center in Monmouth and Helping Hands Food Pantry in Roseville to stock their shelves with food items and related necessities.

“The biggest economic story is the workforce,” Springer said. “It seems like every employer that we talk to is having trouble find workers right now … which is why it’s really, really important for families this holiday season to be talking to their young people about getting involved with vocational education.”

“There are great opportunities in manufacturing, transportation, health care, and food processing sectors,” Springer added. “There are a lot of jobs out there, and our ability to find workers is really going to be the make-or-break thing for our economy moving forward.”

For more information about KCAP or vocation education opportunities in Galesburg, Springer can be reached at (309) 343-1194 or ken@knoxpartnership.com. (12-2, FFF8)
