At the recent Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education meeting, the board began discussion on the addition of a School Resource Officer for the district, informs Superintendent Ed Fletcher:
“We have recently dealt with a couple of threats at our high school. You had the unfortunate event in Michigan and so the board wanted to have that discussion, to just sit down and discuss if this is something we should consider. The district had one years ago, I think in 2007, 2008 and then the program ended. Having an S.R.O., and I have worked in districts with an S.R.O., very positive things can come from having an S.R.O. in a building. There is a lot of discussion behind the scenes. We have to talk to the City of Monmouth, we have to work with the police department, there is a lot of things behind the scenes that you have to discuss and work through before you can get to this point, but I think it is a program that we are going to look at and have some good discussion over.”
Just recently the Monmouth-Roseville school district has passed the approval of hiring a school-based therapist.
During the recent Monmouth-Roseville Board of Education meeting, the board passed a tax levy five cents lower than last year and also started the process on issuing working cash fund bonds, says Superintendent Fletcher:
Superintendent Fletcher also reported the board approved a field trip to Europe for high school students in the Monmouth-Roseville school district for the summer of 2023.
