Plenty of Career and Tech Ed Options at Carl Sandburg

Share

A vast array of classes and programs are available at Carl Sandburg College and through their Career and Technical Education (CTE) department.

Spring enrollment is now underway for traditional and non-traditional students, informs Dean of Career and Technical Education Ellen Burns:

“We prepare students to directly enter the workforce, upon completion of their programs,” Burns said recently, during the “Freezing for Food” fundraiser in Monmouth. “But we also give them opportunities to transfer out if they so choose, by preparing them to continue their educations elsewhere.”

Burns works with area industry partners to help develop and maintain programs to fit their needs, and she oversees the execution of them in the classroom.

Programs in Sandburg’s CTE department range from blue-collar (such as welding, CNC operator/programmer and automotive technology) to business settings (such as administrative office professional and information & communication technology).

“We’re busy wrapping up the fall semester and getting ready for spring (semester),” Burns said. “It’s a great time to take a look at Sandburg to see what we have to offer.”
