Richard M. ” Tex ” Stewart, age 84, of Gladstone, Illinois; passed away at 2:12 am on 24, 2021 at his home in Gladstone, Illinois. ” Tex ” was born on August 14, 1937 in Burlington, Iowa and is the son of Fred and Lucille McClintic Kisler.  He was raised by his grandparents in Mediapolis, Iowa. where he attended school and moved to Gladstone, Illinois in 1955. Tex attended G & O High School in Gladstone, Illinois. He married his sweetheart, Florence Mae Seitz on Deccember 14, 1957. Tex worked several places as a truck driver. He worked for 35 years at Twomey Company, retiring from CGB in 2018. Tex was involved in the improvement of Henderson County. He served as the Village of Gladstone as it’s mayor. He was a volunteer EMT for the Gladstone Ambulance service for many years. He also served as the fire chief of Gladstone’s Volunteer Fire Department. He was the president of the Gulfport-Gladstone Fire district and served as a county board member for many years. He was a huge asset to Henderson County. When Tex was not working or volunteering, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching western movies, watching cartoons like Tom and Jerry with his grandchildren, hanging out at the fire station, and driving around the county with friends. He is survived by his wife, Florence Mae Stewart of Gladstone, two daughters, Petie (Wendell) Parsons of Gladstone, Laura (John) Anderson of Taylor Ridge, and two sons, Fred (Brenda) Stewart of Gladstone, and David (Lori) Stewart also of Gladstone. He has eight grandchildren, Brian (Angie) Stewart, Justin (Megan) Parsons, Anthony (Jessica) Stewart, Lindsay Anderson (Lukas Skaala), Brandi (Bradley) Walker, Ashley Stewart (Kaleb Gemmell), Alissa Anderson (Cory Klepp), and Megan Anderson. He has six great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Chance, and Carly Stewart, Marshall Parsons, and Sherry and Lucas Stewart. He also has sever cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He is preceded in his death by his father and mother, Fred and Lucille Kisler, Earl and Grace Seitz, Roy and Shirley Link, John and Virginia Law, Dwight, and Elaine Seitz, and Lawrence and Arlene Seitz, Kenneth and Florence Cooksey. 

A graveside funeral service is planned at Oquawka Cemetery in Oquawka, on Saturday January 8, 2022 at 11:00 am. His family plans to have visitation and will receive their friends from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday prior to the funeral service at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka.  Interment will be in the Oquawka Cemetery.
