On Saturday, February 5th, Professional Skateboarder, Best Selling Author, and MTV Celebrity Brandon Novak will be sharing his personal addiction recovery story at the Orpheum Theater in Galesburg. West Central Illinois Recovery Oriented System of Care Coordinator Leann Courson has a preview into Novak’s backstory:

“With celebrity life, sometimes partying comes with that and a lot of people can’t handle that, it can suck you in very quickly. Substance use disorder is a disease and if you are sick, you’re sick. And so, he spent years of his life stuck in his substance use disorder, slowly destroying his life, and then he entered recovery. He had even opened a recovery home for people as well.”

More details on the event presented by the West Central Illinois Recovery Oriented System of Care and Bridgeway will be released soon.
