In August, Tyler and Cassie Schleich were awarded the Excellence in Agriculture Award for Illinois, which recognizes members who are outstanding leaders and actively contributing to Farm Bureau, other agricultural organizations, and their communities. After what Cassie called a very involved application process, the Schleich’s received their award this past weekend at the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Chicago. Past Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau Young Leader Chair and co-winner Tyler says their involvement off the farm was a big part:
“I think that our involvement outside of the farm was a big part of it, but what we do on the farm is our owns cows and then our breeding business. We custom breed cattle for several producers all across the state of Illinois and within a couple of hours of home. We work with them from the aspect of nutrition to synchronization, to genetic selection. It is predominately a beef business, we don’t really do any dairy work, but all of those beef customers and help them grow their operations.”
The Schleich’s will compete at the National Level for the Excellence in Agriculture Award next month in Atlanta.
