Strom Center’s Carol McCrery Says Not to be Alarmed Come January with High Medication Costs

With the Medicare open enrollment period now closed, next on the agenda is taking a look into January and using the new cards for the first time. Strom Center Executive Director Carol McCrery says to not be alarmed by a high medication cost in January due to a $480 deductible that has to be met with name brand medications:

“What I want to remind people of, remember, remember, remember you have a $480 deductible to meet if you get brand names. Usually if you get a generic, you may not have to meet that, but if you get a huge bill in January and you are thinking this plan would work a lot better for you, get out your printout that we gave to you at the time of enrollment and look to see each month what those costs are going to be. If you have those printouts check that out. They are not really easy to go through. Sometimes you have to search on the printout, but by all means give us a call is you have any questions.”

When it comes to choosing a pharmacy, McCrery says there is no perfect or no worse pharmacy to choose, it is merely each individuals preference. Last year the staff at Strom Center was able to save residents enrolling in Warren and Henderson Counties over $1.3 million.
