Terri Kay Cole, age 60, of Media, Illinois, passed away at 3:27 p.m. Friday December 24, 2021 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was born February 2, 1961 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Jeanette Inman Jared. On July 15, 1978, she married Michael Cole in Media, Illinois.
Terri was a 1979 graduate of Roseville High School. She was currently working as a dietary technician at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst. Previously, she worked as the elementary secretary, and also in the cafeteria at the Stronghurst Elementary School for twenty five years.
If you knew Terri, you knew that family was the most important thing in her life. She loved her husband, children, and thoroughly enjoyed anything her grandchildren were involved with. She also enjoyed movies and music, especially music that her father sang. She was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, two children: Bryan (Crystal) Cole of Burlington, IA, Amy (Eric) Gipe, of Stronghurst, IL, six grandchildren: Piper, Kalee, Lydia, Shaden, Marissa, and Kingston, two sisters: Teena (Gary) Hansen of Florence, KY, and Tracey (David) Smith of Aledo, IL, her father in law: Chuck Cole of Media, and several nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson: Jackson Gipe, her mother in law: Phyllis Cole, and one brother in law: Don Cole.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
