The United School Board held their last meeting of the calendar year and passed the districts levy and abatement, informs Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt:

“It is December, so we needed to pass the levy. We pretty much passed one similar to the one I presented last month, 4.99% increase is what we are asking for. Again, and I say this every year, it is hard, and we don’t know exactly what the EAV’s will be, that will determine the rate. I would be surprised if there wasn’t a little bit of a decrease in the rate for our property taxpayers this year. Our Board in our discussions were conscious of that and I think that was a mission of theirs a little bit to make that given everything that has gone on and what is going on with prices and inflation, and things like right now, they can catch everybody a little break.”

Superintendent Whitsitt also shares the board began discussion of options to be done for the well concerns at the High School that has run its course of life. Meanwhile, the United School District will be taking their one cent sales tax, their brick-and-mortar money, and pay off $300,000 towards their bond debt.
