Prior to heading into last week, the COVID numbers throughout the United School District were good. Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt says while there was an uptick last week, they are finding out the sickness is not all COVID related:
“We have seen an uptick in COVID, but not just COVID. We have seen some other stuff creeping up and impacting our attendance quite a bit. We will work at it and try and keep everyone as healthy as we can. Get our high school kids through their finals and finish off that semester. We are seeing a lot of people stuffed up with congestion, that kind of thing. We have a stomach bug it appears running through some of our other buildings a little bit. Some folks are willing and go on a take that next precaution and do the testing on their own and we are finding that it is not COVID related. Those are good things and hopefully they can get back sooner than later.”
The United School District will dismiss at 1 pm on Friday to enter into their two-week winter break before resuming for the second semester on Tuesday, January 4th.
