Youth basketball is underway at the Warren County YMCA for pre-k, kindergarten, and first graders with co-ed, second and third grade basketball beginning Saturday, December 11.

Youth Development and Member Service Director Ben Davis says the number of youth involved this year has been outstanding:

“We’ve had a strong year,” Davis said. “Strong numbers in all of our youth sports. It’s a real blessing to work with the kids.”

The YMCA Boys Basketball League is a league where the emphasis is placed on fundamentals, adding onto those basic skills, and simply having fun! Players will either learn the basic skills they need or add on to already existing skills by using age/skill level appropriate drills and techniques.

The YMCA girls’ basketball league combines team play and individual skills in a fun and supportive environment. Young girls will develop basketball skills including passing, receiving, shooting, footwork, and dribbling. Not only will they have an opportunity to improve their technique, but they will also build social skills, gain confidence, and develop leadership skills.

Registration forms for second and third grade boys basketball can be found online at warrencountyymca.org.
