*UPDATED* Deceased Male Found in Front Yard in Macomb

UPDATE: The preliminary autopsy findings as relevant to the 1300 Blk E. Wheeler St. death investigation has determined the cause of death to be medical-related. The Macomb Police Department initially deployed additional investigative resources, due to the physical state of the deceased at the time of the initial response of emergency personnel. Additionally, a preliminary finding of hypothermia resulted from the cold weather conditions of 01/26/2022. Furthermore, a preliminary finding of decomposition resulted from animal activity following death. Macomb Police personnel are continuing to work with the McDonough County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Pathologist’s Office.

On Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at approximately 4:54 am, Macomb Police Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of E. Wheeler St. for a report of a male lying unresponsive in the front yard of a residence. Medical personnel responded and determined the male was deceased. MPD Officers immediately established a perimeter for investigative purposes and summoned detectives to the scene. The cause of death is undetermined at this time and remains under investigation. The Macomb Police Department is being assisted by the Illinois State Police and the McDonough County Coroner’s Office.
