Harry Edgar Sandry, 74, of Galesburg, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 1, 2022, after having coffee with his buddies.

He was born December 13, 1947, in Fosston, Minnesota, the seventh of eight children, to Bert R. and Martha (Hill) Sandry.  He married Holly Carlene Carlson on June 28, 1969.

He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Holly Carlene Sandry; brothers, Earl (Joanne) Sandry of Oneida and Robert Sandry of Ocala, Florida; sister, Helen (Buddy) Shea of Wataga; sister-in-law, Maria Sandry of Casselton, North Dakota; brother-in-law, Robert Steven Carlson of Galesburg; and nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and countless friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred, John, Verne, and Merle; and in-laws, Carl Logan and Peggy J. Carlson.

After graduating from Fosston High School in 1965, Harry relocated to Oneida where he lived with his brother and sister-in-law while working.  He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969.  Harry worked for the City of Galesburg in the Water and Parks Departments for 34 years, retiring in 2003.  He earned associate’s degrees in Potable Water and Waste Water from Carl Sandburg College.  Harry was a licensed plumber since 1985.  He was a member of the Galesburg Evening Lions Club for 35 years.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, in East Linwood Cemetery.  Rev. Carrie Carnes will officiate.  Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, face coverings will be required for any visitors.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date at Boxcar Express.  Memorial contributions may be made to Lions International or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
