Jane O. Hills, age 100, of Stronghurst, Illinois. passed away at 10:39 pm on January 20, 2022 at Southeastern Regional Hospital in West Burlington, Iowa. Jane was born on May 4, 1921 in Peoria, Illinois and is the daughter of Raymond Lewis and Oretta Pearl O’hara Williams. She was raised in East Peoria, Illinois where she attended local schools and attended Peoria High School. She married Edwin E. Hills Sr. on May 6, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2001. Jane first worked for an appliance manufacturer in East Peoria, Illinois and then later worked at Nabisco in Peoria.  Jane also worked for Bork’s Laundry also in Peoria, Illinois. She loved to Crochet and do handwork.  Jane also commercially fished with her husband Edwin on the River at Oquawka for 44 years.  Surviving her is her son Edwin r. Hills Jr. and Linda of Carman, Illinois, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. and his brother, Merwin Williams of Pekin, Illinois. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Carol Painter, and two brothers, Guy and Mahlon. 
 
A funeral service for Jane is planned on Saturday January 29, 2022 at 11:00 am with her burial in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans a visitation and will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka from 9:00 to 11:00 am prior to the funeral services.   A memorial is being established for the Henderson County Humane Society.
