Larry E. Heatherly, 72, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 2:01 am, Sunday, January 23, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

Larry was born March 12, 1949 in Monmouth, IL the son of Earl and Myrtle (Russell) Heatherly.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth High School.

Larry served with the United States Navy for 3 tours during Vietnam.

Larry married Sharon Chenault in Kirkwood, IL on August 16, 1974 and she survives.

He worked at Wilson Foods for several years before moving to Florida to work as a maintenance man at a bank.  Upon his return to Monmouth, Larry worked as truck driver for Twomey Grain and later CGB before retiring in 2015.

Larry was a lifetime member of the Monmouth VFW.  He was of Christian Faith and attended many different denominations of local churches.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Heatherly of Monmouth, IL; 2 step-sons, James Dean Vestal of Galesburg and Ricky Lee Vestal of Florida; 2 grandchildren, Courtney Vestal and Ricky Lee Vestal, Jr; and 1 great-granddaughter, Olivia Bouie; his brother, Dan (MaryAnn) Heatherly of Monmouth, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Tom Heatherly, Kathy Davidson and Karen Heatherly.

Per Larry’s request cremation has been accorded and no services are planned. Memorials may be given to the Monmouth VFW and sent to the funeral home.
