Nearly the entire local sports schedule was wiped out last night due to either inclement weather or covid issues. Some of those have been rescheduled already and some have yet to be determined. The United Red Storm and Abingdon-Avon girls basketball game was postponed and has yet to have a rescheduled date. The West Central vs. Stark County girls game has been postponed to January 27th. The Knoxville Blue Bullet away game at Mercer County has been postponed to January 24th. Other girls basketball games that were postponed but no date attached to them yet, include BPC @ Rushville/Industry and West Prairie at West Hancock.

The Illini West Charger girls basketball squad got their game in against Mendon Unity in a battle of a pair of the better teams in West Central Conference. It was the Lady Chargers winning the match up 56-52. Caydee Kirkham led IW with 21 points as the Chargers improve to (17-1). Mendon Unity falls to (13-3). Both of these teams met up in the championship game of the Beardstown Lady Tiger Classic on December 30th, with Illini West winning that game, as well.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan wrestling match in Macomb that was scheduled for yesterday was postponed to Jan. 25th.

Other changes in schedule include the final night of the Monmouth-Roseville Freshman Boys Basketball Invitational being pushed to Saturday, January 29th starting at 10 am with Farmington and Ridgewood in the 5th place game, followed by Mercer County and Sherrard for 3rd at 11:15 and Monmouth-Roseville vs. Galesburg for the championship at 12:30.

There have been some cancellations on tonight’s local sports schedule as well. There are covid issues within the Orion girls basketball program so their game at Monmouth-Roseville has been moved to January 29th. The Galesburg Silver Streak girls basketball game has been postponed to Monday. The United girls basketball game at West Central is still on for tonight, as is the Knoxville girls at home vs. Sherrard.
