Serving school districts in Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren Counties, the Regional Office of Education #33 puts a major focus on school attendance, which unfortunately during the pandemic habits have changed says Regional Superintendent Jodi Scott:

“We took a big turn and students got used to being at home and I think our habits changed. Our truancy department, our school attendance department has increased. We have almost doubled the number of staff we have. We have folks that are working really, really close with families who are struggling to get students to school. Our truancy review board, which meets after a student has had 12 unexcused absences, they will be scheduled for a truancy review board.”

Scott goes on to say the purpose of the truancy review board is to understand what the barriers are for getting their child to school and help connect families to services within the community.
