The Monmouth-Roseville boys and girls basketball teams had a busy holiday week at tournaments in Macomb and Erie-Prophetstown, respectively.

The Titan girls finished runner-up to Rockridge while the boys advanced to the consolation championship before losing to Brown County.

Titan Athletic Director Jeremy Adolphson said Thursday’s girls home game against Orion has been postponed due to COVID concerns within the Orion team.

Adolphson also reports that isolation guidelines from the State Board of Education have not changed, and remain at the current 10-day recommendation:

“We’ve been very lucky (to this point) because the Orion postponement is the first for us this season for the entire school year, from fall into winter,” Adolphson said. “We’ve had individual coaches or players that have had to be out, but never have had to move a game. I’m sure there might be more coming down the line.

“If we did make a switch from the 10- to the five-day quarantine, that would really help,” Adolphson said. “Especially as we move toward the end of seasons, where two weeks (10 days) could be half your season. Two weeks could be the end of your season, if it’s at the wrong time.

“I’m sure coaches and players alike are on edge, and just hoping to get through things as clean as we’ve been able to. Because the worst-case scenario is something happening at the end of your season, which could end before the postseason.”
