Margaret E. Johnson, age 73, of Gladstone, Illinois passed away at 9:45 am on Sunday January 23, 2022 at her Gladstone residence. Margaret was born on January 19, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa and is the daughter of Mont and Rhoda Pendry Allen. Margaret was raised in Gladstone where she attended local schools and graduated from Union High School in 1067. On April 22, 1967 Margaret married Larry ” Frank ” Johnson in Biggsville, Illinois. He is surviving and lives in Gladstone, Il. Margaret first worked at Maytag Manufacturing in Galesburg, Illinois. She then was employed at the Henderson County Health Department in Gladstone, Illinois for a number of years. Margaret was first and foremost a homemaker for her family and raised her three children. She served on the Gladstone Homecoming Committee for many years as well as various other committees locally through the years. Margaret also loved bowling and teaching kids how to bowl on Saturday mornings at Country Fun until it closed. Margaret also sold Avon Products locally for many years. She also loved playing cards and spending her time with her family and grandchildren. Surviving her is her husband, ” Frankie ” of Gladstone, Illinois and three daughters, Chris Johnson (Ron Bielser) of Gladstone, IL; Angela Johnson (Kevin Meyer) of Stronghurst, IL; and Jamee Gillette and Anthony of Monmouth, IL. Six grandchildren survive, Jeff Peterson and Bobbi of Gladstone, IL; Adrian Gillette of Kirkwood, IL; Baylee Gillette of Monmouth, IL; Natalie Gillette ( William Douglas ) in Hawaii; Zack Meyer and Ashley Meyer, both of Stronghurst, IL. Four great grandchildren also survive, Grayer and Ariana Peterson and Kinsley and Owen Peterson, all of Gladstone, Illinois. Margaret’s sister also survives, Pamela Furnald of Gladstone, Illinois. She is preceded in her death by her parents, her brother, two sisters, two nephews, and numerous aunts and uncles. A private family graveside interment is planned at the Oquawka Cemetery. As were her wishes, no visitation or funeral services or memorial fund is currently planned. Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka is in charge of her care.
