Marjorie I. Moshier, 88 of rural Abingdon, passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Tina Grohmann, in rural Gilson, where she had been receiving medical care.
Marge was born July 26, 1933 in Galesburg, the daughter of Hermon and Irma (Davis) Cannon. She married Elwood W. Moshier in 1952 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, David and Daniel, her son-in-law, Richard Grohmann, two brothers, Lloyd Cannon and William Cannon, and one brother-in-law, Russell Moshier and his wife Launa.
Surviving are two daughters, Tina Grohmann of rural Gilson and Terri Brown of Bardolph; five grandchildren, Jeff (Tammi) Grohmann, Stacy (Sean Riggs) Grohmann, Tonya English, Cory (Danielle) Moshier and Kyle Moshier; seven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Jerry (Mary Jo) Moshier of Abingdon; and nieces, nephews and their families.
She graduated from Valley High School in 1952. She had lived in the Abingdon area all of her adult married life. She worked as an assembly inspector at Maytag Corporation in Galesburg for 28 ½ years, retiring in 2008. She loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed gardening and mushroom hunting.
As she requested, cremation will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Bob Malone will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
