MFD Chief Rexroat Offers Tips to Withstand Traveling in Cold Weather Months

Share

During the winter months it is beneficial to be prepared in the event of getting stuck in bad weather on the roadways. Monmouth Fire Chief Casey Rexroat offers guidance on what to have in your car at all times in the event of an emergency:

“Here is early February is a lot of times when we have some of the biggest snows of the year and kind of catches everybody off guard as they are use to these little snows here and there and then we get one great big one, but just keeping your kit ready is a huge thing. Just a few things, you don’t have to go and pack a whole suitcase full of stuff, you can just grab a few items; a blanket, a flashlight, a phone charger, things like that, some extra medications, some water, just something to tide you over a few hours or overnight if absolutely needed until someone can get to you because it does take a while sometimes.”

Additionally, keep your car filled with gasoline during the cold months and remember to clear your car’s tailpipe if you do find yourself stuck on the roadway in inclement weather.
