The Monmouth Fire Department has released their monthly report for the month of December. The report lists the nine main categories of incident types and the total number of calls the department responded to. Monmouth Fire Chief, Casey Rexroat reports that there were only two fires in the month of December during the fire department’s “Keep the Wreath Red” campaign:
“We only had two actual fires during December, which was really good. We had the “Keep the Wreath Red” program going on and we only had one actual structure fire during the month and so we only changed one of those red bulbs to white for the month of December, which is a really good thing. We actually had 26 fires last year. I think that is on the low side too. I think it is usually around 30 or 40 fires that we have every year, so that is really good for 2021 to have a lower number of fires going on.”
In total, the Monmouth Fire Department responded to a total of 1,477 calls throughout 2021, with 134 of those coming in the month of December.
