Each year, the Polar Plunge brings together thousands of warm-hearted individuals from across the state.
“It’s a great way for everyone – individuals, organizations and businesses – to support Special Olympics Illinois,” said Jennifer Davis, assistant region director for Special Olympics in western Illinois. “All funds raised go to provide programing and events for more than 23,100 traditional athletes and 13,000 Young Athletes participating in Illinois.”
Western Illinois plungers have three Region F events to choose from:
- February 27 at the Lake Storey Pavilion in Galesburg, 1572 Machen Drive. Registration will be from 12:30-1:45 p.m. with the Plunge taking place at 2 p.m.
- March 5 at Chandler Park, 148 E. Carroll St., in Macomb. Registration will be from 12:30-1:45 p.m. with the Plunge at 2 p.m.
- March 13 at Bally’s Casino & Hotel, 777 Bally Blvd., in Rock Island. Registration will be from 12:30-1:45 p.m. with the Plunge taking place at 2 p.m.
“We’re very thankful for everything the Monmouth and Warren County communities have done for our athletes,” Davis said. “We had an incredible Friday Night Lights event at Meks on Main in November, a huge success. We’ve had a record year and it’s all due to the community support.”
