Red Storm Boys Basketball Defeats A-Town in Overtime

Abingdon/Avon was at the U last night for a conference battle with the Red Storm. In JV action A-Town came out on top by a score of 52-40. The Red Storm had the early lead in this one as Dee Sargeant had a couple three pointers and Hunter Hall had 4 and United was up 12-9`after one. A-Town cut the lead to 1 at the half 22-21. The second half was all Tornadoes as they outscored United 15-10 in the third and 13-8 in the fourth to grab the win. Hunter Hall led the Red Storm with 15 followed by Dee Sargeant who added 9. Kenneth Higbee and Landon Hannam each had 6 while Zeke Clark had 3 and Keaton Simpson 1. In Varsity action the Red Storm gutted out a a 57-47 win in overtime. Cormaic Flynn had 7 points in the first quarter for United as the two teams battled to a 13-13 score. Flynn continued to have the hot hand in the second as he added 9 more and the Red Storm would take a 27-23 lead to the half. But the Tornadoes would not go away as they cut the lead to 39-38 after three. The fourth quarter was back and forth low scoring quarter as the visitors outscored United 9-8 to force an overtime period. The overtime period would belong to the Red Storm as they outscored A-Town 11-0 behind 4bpoints each from Abel Wilson and Cormaic Flynn while Colin Jenks added a three pointer. Cormaic Flynn was the leading scorer as he hit for 31 points followed by Abel Wilson with 17. Also contributing to the victory were Aiden Parkins with 4, Colin Jenks 3, Nolan Leffler and AJ Jenks with 2 apiece.
