Mrs. Shirley M. Brannon, 71, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at 4:00 pm Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Loyola University Medical Center with her daughters and partner by her side.

Shirley was born August 13, 1950, in Fallis, Oklahoma the daughter of Floyd L. and Christine D. (Reed) Brannon.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, DeAnne (Tom III) Brown of Valrico, Florida and Brandi (Ecron) Thompson of Austin, Texas; her partner of 21 years, Charles Thompson of Oquawka; her brother, Jimmie Lee Brannon of Chandler, Oklahoma; her two sisters, Regina M. Brannon of Galesburg and Marsha A. Brannon-Pitman of Jacksonville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Monique, Tiffany, and Tom Brown IV, Josiah and Nia Thompson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Fred James Brannon and her sister, Wanda Faye Spinks.

Shirley graduated from Galesburg High School in 1968. She worked for Gates Rubber Company for 48 years, retiring in 2021. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Galesburg. Shirley enjoyed working out and swimming at the YMCA. She had a flavor for buying nice jewelry and loved to travel. Shirley’s true passion was spending time with her family, especially her girls and her grandchildren.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:30 pm Friday, January 14, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:30 pm Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made Knox County Relay for Life. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required with limited occupancy. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
