A $70 million utility-scale solar energy project is coming to Knox County, informs Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer:
“We are really pumped about it. It is a project that KCAP has been working on with the developer for a little bit over a year. In short, it is going to be a $70 million investment in Knox County. We will have some really good property tax impacts. It will be located kind of in a fairly unpopulated area south of Galesburg, but north of County Road 10. We are optimistic that it will get the approvals here that we need in the next couple of months.”
Springer says the investment will bring $5 million in property taxes over the next 35 years, which will benefit the schools, county, city, and roads in Knox County.
