Abingdon-Avon Upsets 2nd Seed United in LTC Boys Basketball Tournament Semifinals

The A-Town Tornadoes spoiled the United Red Storm hopes of a LTC title game appearance as they held off United 54-43. Nolan Leffler had 7 in the first quarter and Cormaic Flynn 5 to lead the Red Storm to a 14-13 first quarter lead. A-Town would bounce back in the second outscoring United 14-9 to take a 27-23 halftime lead. The Red Storm continued to struggle offensively in the third as AJ Jenks would score 4 of their 8 points but the Tornadoes would put up 13 and stretch their lead to 40-31. United would try to rally in the final quarter but every time United made a run, A-Town would punch back. Leading the way for United was Nolan Leffler and Cormaic Flynn each with 16 followed by Aiden Parkins with 6 and AJ Jenks with 5. Abingdon-Avon was led by Easten Schisler’s 24 points The Red Storm will look to bounce back in the third place game on Saturday at 5 in Galva. A-Town will take on top-seed Knoxville at 6:30 in the title game. Knoxville knocked off 4th seeded Mercer County 52-35 in the second semifinal.
