Brian H. Smith, 59, of Kirkwood, IL, passed away at 1:34 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, Burlington, IA.

He was born on September 24, 1962 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Donald H. and Beatrice L. (Simmons) Smith.  He was raised and educated in rural Kirkwood and graduated from Union High School in 1980. 

Brian married Christina Williams on August 16, 1997 at Fall Creek Church; she survives. 

Brian first worked at Schisler Seed in Keithsburg, IL and then worked at Shipley Construction in Burlington, IA, and later Goff Trucking.  He was currently the Superintendent of the Henderson County Highway Department.  He served as the road commissioner for the Rozetta Township for 30 years.  Brian was an avid tractor puller and enjoyed horseback riding.  He was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He never knew a stranger.  Brian was the guy that made everybody feel like somebody.  He was a member of the First Christian Church of Monmouth. 

Surviving Brian is his wife Chrissy Smith of Kirkwood, IL; siblings, Donna (George) Carson of Colchester, IL, Bill Smith of Kirkwood, IL, Diana (Roger) Keever of Monmouth, IL, Bruce (Anita) Smith of Biggsville, IL; his brother from another mother, Russ (Carla) Gardner of Biggsville, IL; Sister-in-law, Julie (Dale) Cooley of Buckeye, AZ; Father & Mother-in-law, John and Myrtle Williams of Abingdon, IL; his nieces and nephews, Dana (Ron) Ross, Deana (Mark) Twenhafel, Kari (Will) Hall, Shana (Brett) Kennon, Alicia (Gavin) Mitchell, Brandy (R.K.) Smith, Elizabeth (Nick) Looman, and Brandon Cooley.  Several great nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Maks and Archie also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.  Memorials can be made to the Brian Smith Memorial Fund.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
