Danita D. “DeeDee” Ortery, 64, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on February 09, 2022 at 11:26 p.m. in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

She was born June 2, 1957 in Monmouth, the daughter of William T. and Virginia (Pate) Smith. She was raised and educated in the Monmouth area graduating from Monmouth High School in 1975.

DeeDee worked as a bookkeeper for the Monmouth Township for 35 years.

She enjoyed woodworking and playing video games. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving DeeDee is her daughter, Alicia (Nick) Ortery of Berwick, IL; grandchildren, Kohen, Adalynn, Lillian of Berwick and Kaylyn of Biggsville, IL; one sister, Paula (Sam) Schaumleffel of Roseville, IL, and a niece Jodi (Damon) Slater of LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Debie McIntosh.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the DeeDee Ortery Memorial Fund.
