Doc L. Fengel, 86, of Abingdon, passed away at 9:11 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.
He was born June 15, 1935 in Galesburg, the son of Everett and Rita C. (Hummel) Fengel. He married Loretta Lynn Goff on December 29, 1973 in Abingdon. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mera Norville and his stepfather, William Reed
Doc is survived by one son, Chad Fengel of Abingdon and one daughter, Kara Fengel of Galesburg.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1953. He served three years in the US Air Force. In his lifetime, he owned and operated the Texaco Station, the Shell Station, the DX Station and Doc’s Alignment & Tire Service all in Abingdon, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop and made many intricate pieces.
As he requested, cremation will be accorded. Private burial of his ashes will be next to Loretta in the Abingdon Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors & Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is assisting the family with his arrangements.
