Howard K. “Bud” Biddle, 88, of Joy, Illinois passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Mercer Manor in Aledo.  Services are 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022 at College Avenue Presbyterian Church.  Burial is in the Peniel Cemetery.  Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to Mercer County Agricultural Society or College Avenue Presbyterian Church.  Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.


Bud was born September 10, 1933 in Warren County, Illinois to Bill and Irma Bodenstadt Biddle.  He graduated from Little York High School in 1951.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army stationed in France from 1953-1955.  Bud married Lorraine Martin March 15, 1956 in Monmouth.

Bud was employed at Dekalb Seed in Monmouth for five years before moving to Joy in 1960 where he farmed for over 50 years.

He was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church.  He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Westmer Community School District 203.

Bud was an avid fiddle player and bluegrass musician.  He enjoyed wintering in south Texas and especially enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Sarah (Steve) Hall of Monmouth; Susan (Rob) Robbins of Branson, Missouri; two sons, Davis (Marsha) Biddle of Aledo; Dennis (Marcie) Biddle of Joy; eleven grandchildren, Chad Retherford, Brandon (Amy) Retherford, Ellie (Chandler) Burns, Shay (Ashley) Robbins; Nick (Kelly) Robbins; Shantell (Colton) Matney; Blake (Katherine) Robbins; Jill (Travis) Brokaw; Daphney (Eric) Long; Miranda (Brad) Reininger; Grant Biddle; great grandchildren, Hannah, Andrew, Lindley, Blair, Porter, Lulu, Belle, Knox, Piper, Tess, Sage, Hadassah, Karis, Maverick, Andrew, Alex, Abby, Jake, Vera, Adler, Fenton; three sisters, Bettye Leonhart of Aledo; Maxine (Bill) Melton of Peoria; Sharon (Ron) Hank of Aledo; one brother, Randy (Pam) Biddle of Little York; one-sister-in-law, Lucille Biddle of Little York; several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Evan and one brother, Billy
