The ICS Trojans and Danville Schlarman matched up in game two of the semifinals of the IESA State Tournament. The winner of this one will take on Jacksonville for the State Title. Both teams are coming off hard fought wins. The opening quarter was a back-and-forth affair with Danville leading 14-11 despite Clay Casteel having 7 points. Danville would score the first 5 of the second quarter forcing coach Mike Huston to burn a timeout to settle his boys down. Danville owned the second quarter as their length and active hands caused problems for the Trojans both offensively and defensively. The Trojans would go to the halftime lockers down 31-17. The Trojans looked to battle back in the third but could not get enough stops to make a push as they trailed 40-24 entering the final quarter. The fourth was more of the same for the Trojans who just could not get anything to fall as Danville Schlarman would win this one 46-27. Leading the Trojans was Andrew Way with 11 followed by Clay Casteel with 7, Nick Huston with 5 while Alex Simmons and Elijah Noel each finished with 2. It was a tough game for the Trojans and their many fans but nothing to hang their heads about with a 26-3 record which includes three losses all to State tournament team the Trojans will look to bounce back Wednesday in the third-place game. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, but has been moved up to Wednesday night to avoid the potential hazardous winter weather hitting the area on Wednesday night and Thursday.
