Monmouth-Roseville Sends Three Wrestlers on to Sectionals

Monmouth-Roseville Titans traveled to Farmington on Saturday morning with nine wrestlers looking for a spot at Sectionals. The Titans sports a young team and for most, it was the first time participating in a Regional competition. Monmouth-Roseville had three wrestlers make it to Sectionals this upcoming Friday and Saturday at Olympia High School in Stanford, IL. At the 106-weight class, freshman Caleb Dillard advanced with a 3rd place finish. Sophomore Gabe Ortiz-Mora, wrestling in the 145 pound weight class, came out with a 3rd place to advance to Sectionals, also. The final Titan wrestler heading to Sectionals is senior, Andrew Gunn. He wrestles at the weight class of 182 and finished with a second place medal. Congratulations to these wrestlers and good luck Friday and Saturday.

Dayanna Ortiz-Mora will also be wrestling this weekend at girls’ sectionals, in Peoria, IL, in hopes of getting a golden ticket for the first-ever IHSA Girls State Tournament. Good luck Dayanna.
