Murray L. Ricketts, age 70, of Burlington, Iowa passed away at 12:45 am
on January 7, 2022 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington,
Iowa. Murray was born on April 10, 1951 in Burlington, Iowa and is the
son of Charles and Charmian Randall Ricketts. He was raised in Oquawka
for his early life and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan at the age of 12
in 1963. Murray played football and ran track while in High School and
graduated from Central High School in Grand Rapids, MI  in 1969.  He
then attended Grand Rapids Junior College where he received an
Associates Degree, and then went on to Michigan State for a time and
later graduated from Western Illinois University where he received his
bachelor’s degree in education.  Murray began teaching at Koblerville
Elementary School in Saipan where he taught school and coached track for
ten years. While teaching he met and married Olivia Ouhe Qian Ricketts. 
Murray was a huge car guy and his first car was 1960s Chevrolet
Biscayne.  He is survived by his son and daughter,  Aaron Ricketts of
Burlington, Iowa and Jessica Ricketts also of Burlington, Iowa.  His
brother Brian Ricketts and Adelaida of Houston,
Texas. also surviving him is his niece Jennifer Monge also of Houston,
Texas. A number of other relatives also are surviving. He is preceded in
his death by his parents. Cremation is being accorded and interment of
his ashes will be in the Oquawka Cemetery. No visitation or funeral
