On Wednesday night at Wethersfield High School in Kewanee, the United Red Storm boys basketball team beat Stark County 57-34 to advance to Friday night’s regional championship game. The Red Storm opened up a 17-14 first quarter lead behind 6 points from Abel Wilson and 5 from Aidan Parkins. United controlled the tempo in the second quarter, stretching their lead to 35-19 at the half as Cormaic Flynn had 9 in the quarter. The Red Storm would control the second half, as well, holding Stark County to single digits in each quarter. Abel Wilson put up 12 points in the half and the Red Storm ran away with the victory. Wilson led the Red Storm with 20 points, while Cormaic Flynn joined him in double figures with 16. Also contributing to the cause was Parkins with 9 and Nolan Leffler with 6. Hunter Hall, Colin Jenks and AJ Jenks all finished with 2 points each. The Red Storm will take on Ridgewood on Friday night at 7:00 for the regional championship at Wethersfield High School in Kewanee.
