Vickie Ilene Hutchings, 65, of Galesburg, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022 at Promedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Galesburg.

Vickie was born in Burlington, IA on September 17, 1956, the daughter of Melvin and Pauline (Kirby) Clayton.  She graduated from Knoxville High School and later from Carl Sandburg College with her LPN.  Vickie married D. LeRoy Hutchings on August 19, 1982 in Las Vegas, NV.  He survives of Galesburg as does her mother, Paulillne Clayton of Knoxville, IL.  Vickie is also survived by one daughter, Kristina Suddeth of Galesburg; and her two grandchildren, Eric Suddeth and Page Suddeth.  Vickie is also survived by one brother, Perry Clayton of Galesburg; one sister, Brenda (Jay) Snider of Galesburg; and a sister-in-law, Vicki Hutchings of Florida.  Vickie was preceded in death by her father; LeRoy’s parents, Marvin and Shirley Hutchings; and two brothers-in-law, Steve and Jim Hutchings.

Vickie’s career spanned 35 years, spending all of them working at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL.  She was passionate about caring for the residents and her co-workers.  She retired in 2008.  Vickie enjoyed going to the river boat casinos as well as watching Fox News and politics.  In the past several years, Vickie enjoyed playing “brain games.”

Cremation will be accorded.  No services are planned.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Vickie’s family would like the staff of OSF Hospice for the loving care they provided Vickie.  Memorial contributions may be made in Vickie’s memory to the Knox County Humane Society or to OSF Hospice.
