Virus Numbers Trending Lower, Reports OSF’s Dr. Robert Ayers

Share

As overall COVID-19 infection rates continue to trend downward statewide and in Warren County, Dr. Robert Ayers of OSF Holy Family in Monmouth and St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg reminds area residents that the majority of patients currently hospitalized with the coronavirus — in the intensive care unit or on ventilators — tend to be those who are unvaccinated.

“The good news is there doesn’t seem to be a new (virus) variant on the horizon,” Dr. Ayers said during a recent WRAM “Morning Show” interview with host Vanessa Wetterling. “Maybe we will get a reprieve for a while. That would be nice.”

During the interview Dr. Ayers noted that influenza numbers are down from what would be considered a “normal year.”
