Walter C. Trout, 88, of Cameron, IL passed away at 3:17 am, Friday, February 25, 2022, at his home.

Walter was born September 8, 1933 in Hoosierville, IN, the son of William Leon and Ruby Viola (Hunsicker) Trout.  He was raised and educated in Cuba, IL, graduating from Cuba High School in 1951.  While in high school Walter participated in football, track and was manager of the basketball team.  He also participated in band and FFA. Following his graduating from high school Walter worked at the Rock Island Arsenal and Toledo, Peoria and Western Railroad before entering the United States Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of Corporal ending his service in 1955.

Walter married Marjorie Kay Olson at the Christian Church, Galesburg, IL on January 26, 1957 and she passed away on November 17, 2017. They were married for 60 years.

Walter started as a shopkeeper at Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) in Galesburg in 1956 before beginning his Tool & Die Apprenticeship at OMC. Walter was a Tool & Die maker at OMC and was one of the last employees at OMC when he it closed in 1984.  Walter trained many Tool & Die Apprentices over the years. He finished his career at J.H. Benedict Company in East Peoria, IL before retiring 1998.

He was a member of the Grand Lodge of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.  He enjoyed model railroading and gardening.

Survivors include his children; 6 children, Curtis C. (Philip Enge) Trout of Normal, IL, Cynthia K. (Jan White) Trout of Spanaway, WA, Charles C. (Debbie)) Trout of Waukegan, IL, Clifford C. Trout of Cameron, IL, Christine R. (Ronald) McGettrick of Normal, IL and Clarence C. Trout of Cameron, IL; 7 grandchildren, Patrick Truitt, Anna (Eric) Vigil, Mackenzie (Evan) Huff, Johnathan Trout, Ron McGettrick, Riley McGettrick and Rachael McGettrick; 3 great-grandchildren, Calvin Huff, Oliver Huff and Evelyn Vigil;  son-in-law, Don Truitt of Williston, SC; 3 sisters, Gladys (Bill) Olson, Edna (Jim) Leath and Patricia (Sam) Fox all of Cameron, IL; 2 brothers, Thomas (Sharon) Trout of Cameron, IL and William Trout of Galesburg, IL; 1 brother-in-law, John Watt of Point Blank, TX; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cathryn Trout Truitt; sister, Dorothy D. Watt; sister-in-law, Peggy Trout.

Cremation has been accorded. Visitation and Memorial services will be held in June 2022. A private family burial in Silent Home Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Carl Sandburg College and sent to the funeral home.  McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth in charge of the arrangements.
