WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for Week Ending Feb. 13, 2020

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Jerome Jackson. Jerome has made the most of his time since entering the starting lineup. His versatility has him filling up the stat chart for the Titans on a nightly basis. Jerome averaged nine points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal a game in three games last week.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Reece Bertelsen. Reece has gotten as hot as the entire team down the stretch of the season. The Red Storm ran off four straight wins last week and she was a big part of it. Reece averaged nearly eight points a game in those victories and her nine rebounds against West Prairie helped her team to its first regional win since 2016.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Connor Woodbury. Connor’s great all-around game filled up the stat in a big way in two games last week. He scored 19 points and hauled down six rebounds in a loss to Abingdon-Avon and had nine points with eight rebounds in a win over Wethersfield. Not only was he good on offense, Connor had a total of six blocks and five steals on defense, as well.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Carl Dortch. Carl was inserted into the starting lineup last week and made the most of it. He averaged 15 points in two Western Big Six Conference games against Rock Island and Alleman. Carl was also a beast on the boards, averaging over five rebounds in those contests.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys basketball player, Kellen Hook. Kellen has done all the little things that teams need to be successful. He rebounds, he hands out assists and is solid on the defensive end of the floor. It was Kellen’s offensive scoring that helped the Tornadoes to a win over West Central, as he poured in 12 points.

Congratulations to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors…….McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank, Kehoe Eye Care – Galesburg/Kehoe Eye Care – Monmouth
