Larry Harvey Trent, 83, of Galesburg, died at 8:25 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022, at home with family at his side.

He was born October 30, 1938, in Macomb. He was the son of Lester and Garnett Alleyene (McGruder) Trent and Charles White.  He was married to Mary Buford and Betty Baker before he married Valeria Dickerson on February 24, 1990, in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Valeria; sons, Jonathan Trent, Bryce Trent, Tate Wilson, and Cherokee French; daughters, Lori Ann Trent, Gladys “Nena” Adams, Candace Trent, Nadia Trent, Dawnella Wilson, and Ruthie Thomas; 28 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sister, Winifred Mack.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father; a daughter, Paula Trent; a grandson, Cameron Wilson; and a sister, Beverly Watson.

Larry retired from Goss Graphics in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2001, where he worked as a painter for 25 years.  After moving to Galesburg, he drove a van for the Boys and Girls Club for many years.

He was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Party Time Riders Motorcycle Club.  He enjoyed hunting, grilling, playing cards, and spending time with his family. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Hailey III officiating.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care of Galesburg.  Online condolences for the family may be left on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com
