Linda S. Costner, 71, of Gerlaw, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. in her home.

She was born July 6, 1950 in Yokohama, Japan, the daughter of Charles Alfred and Tsuruko (Yokoyama) Anderson. She was raised and educated in California, graduating from Buena Park High School in 1968. She later went on to receive an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice in Columbus, GA.

Linda married John H. Costner March 6, 1969 in Las Vegas, NV and he preceded her in death in September 25, 2006.

She enjoyed homemaking and gardening. She was a very creative person and made a wide variety of crafts over the years.

Surviving Linda is her loving partner of 14 years Lloyd Douglas Legg of Gerlaw; children, Donna (Kevin) Straitiff of Monmouth; Teresa (Steven) Owens of Butler, TN; Sherry Costner of Kansas City, MO; Jennifer Costner of Kansas City, MO; John (Amber) Costner of Santa Anna, TX; Robert (Lori Bodeen) Costner of New Windsor, IL; 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; step-mother, Margaret Anderson; brothers, Charles Alfred Anderson III and Christian Anderson of CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 37 years John H. Costner.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life is planned for Monday, March 28, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at High Point Church of Monmouth, 250 S 1st Street, Monmouth, IL, with a brief memorial service to be held at 5:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and left in the care of the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
