Local Outreach Project Gives High School Girls the Opportunity to Explore Agricultural Careers

Share

This Friday, March 4th at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, the Illinois Agri-Women will host the outreach project ‘Women Changing the Face of Agriculture,’ giving all women the opportunity to explore different career paths offered in the agriculture sector, says Ag Engineer Gayle Baker:

“Women Changing the Face of Ag is a project of Illinois Agri-Women. It started in 2010 as a career exploration event for high school girls to come and see what women in agriculture could do as far as a career track. This year, we are very excited to host Amanda Radke as the keynote speaker. She is a beef farmer from South Dakota, and she will be here to talk about resiliency and thinking about taking this next step as high schoolers transition into either college students or going into the workforce or going to tech schools. We also have over 50 professional women that will be in attendance on different career panels.”

While the event is at full capacity for Friday, there are scholarship opportunities available through the Illinois Agri-Women for high school students. Applications are due March 31st, and more information can be found online at https://www.illinoisagriwomen.org/.
